HTC Android Phones To Be Different

Tuesday, April 12, 2011: If you enter any major electronics store and glance at the touchscreen smartphones, there hardly would be a differentiating factor amongst them when it comes to looks. The case gets worse when you try out the phone only to find out that the software (read Android) too is identical. In such a case, how can a successful company like HTC deliver to stand out from the rest of the crowd?

The Taiwanese maker of smartphones and tablets has introduced new customisations that would help your smartphone have a different user experience. For starters, its acclaimed custom UI 'Sense' will undergo an overhaul. Now, when the screen is locked there would be a menu of options that would let you do tasks such as access mail, jump to the camera app, display some of your recent pictures, check weather and so on.

Another subtle change is using the light sensors in the phone more intelligently. Whenever you put your HTC Android phone in your pocket, handbag or any other darker environment, the phone senses that it is in a dark/confined space and hence rings loudly. As soon as you take it out and keep it in the open, the ringer will automatically go back to the normal mode.

Also, camera phones are known to suffer from a significant shutter lag. So much so, that some of us prefer to carry our standalone digicams to functions, lest we miss that particular moment. With the new overhauled Sense UI, HTC has tried to significantly reduce the camera lag. “With that lag you have, you usually miss the shot when you have things that are moving. We are trying to make it easier for people to make better quality pictures.” said HTC's chief product officer Kouji Kodera in a quote to AllThingsD.

We would be able to see the latest innovations from HTC's table on the forthcoming Evo 3D and also at a press launch that the company will hold in London.
